Madlanga Commission Hears Sharp Rebuke As Gauteng Sergeant Nkosi Refuses To Answer Questions

Gauteng police sergeant Fannie Nkosi has been formally reprimanded at the Madlanga Commission following his repeated refusal to respond to key questions during proceedings.

Nkosi has spent six days on the witness stand, during which he has declined to comment on several matters or said he could not recall crucial details linked to the inquiry.

On Friday, the commission questioned Nkosi about a confidential tender document he allegedly shared with a taxi boss, identified as Mampane.

Nkosi told the commission that the document was no longer confidential at the time he sent it, stating the tender process had already been cancelled.

However, evidence presented before the commission indicates that the tender was only cancelled several months after Nkosi allegedly distributed the document.

Sesi Baloyi Criticises Nkosi’s Conduct During Testimony

Co-commissioner Sesi Baloyi expressed dissatisfaction with Nkosi’s conduct, saying his responses were not assisting the inquiry.

“You are being obstructive and not helping the commission. That’s the position you have taken, and I think you need to be reminded that your obligation to the commission is to assist and give satisfactory answers.
