Madlanga Commission: Police Behind Katiso “KT” Molefe’s Arrest Set To Testify Over High-Profile Murder Case

Police officers involved in the dramatic arrest of alleged underworld figure Katiso “KT” Molefe are expected to testify before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry on Monday.

The officers were part of a high-stakes operation that led to Molefe’s capture at his lavish Sandhurst mansion in December last year.

Molefe was taken into custody by members of the Gauteng Counterintelligence Operations Unit and the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT).

His arrest was linked to the brutal murder of Vereeniging engineer Armand Swart, who was gunned down in a case of mistaken identity outside his workplace in southern Johannesburg in April 2024. Swart was shot 23 times.

Molefe Faces Multiple Murder and Conspiracy Charges

Besides the 2024 murder charge, Molefe is also accused of orchestrating the 2022 killings of renowned music producer Oupa “DJ Sumbody” Sefoka, his two bodyguards, and businessman Hector “DJ Vintos” Buthelezi.

Currently out on bail, Molefe and several co-accused are facing an array of charges, including murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

Detectives who previously testified before the Madlanga Commission alleged that the Hawks and Gauteng traffic police interfered during Molefe’s arrest — an accusation that has drawn sharp public interest.

The upcoming testimony from the arresting officers is expected to shed further light on the alleged interference and the operational challenges that accompanied the takedown of one of Gauteng’s most notorious alleged crime figures.
