Limpopo’s DJ Poizen Dies In Fatal N1 Car Crash

Limpopo is in shock following the tragic death of Cavin Masetla, popularly known as DJ Poizen, who passed away in a horrific car accident in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The 33-year-old artist from Tickeyline village outside Lenyenye, Tzaneen, was traveling along the N1 near Ysterberg mountain outside Polokwane in the Capricorn District when the accident occurred.

Chymamusique Fighting for His Life

Reports indicate that DJ Poizen was traveling with fellow musician Chymamusique after performing in Mokopane on Friday night. While Poizen sadly died at the scene, Chymamusique sustained serious injuries and is currently in ICU.

According to police, two sedans collided head-on, leaving five people dead and two others seriously injured.

“Out of the five people who passed on, four of them were burnt beyond recognition and the two injured which include a driver and passenger were taken to a nearby hospital,” said Tidimalo Chuene, spokesperson for the Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety.

Preliminary reports suggest that one of the vehicles attempted to overtake recklessly, leading to the devastating collision. SAPS investigations are still underway.

Rising Star Gone Too Soon

DJ Poizen, a former member of House Victimz, was a respected figure in the Limpopo music scene. He had recently collaborated with Kabza De Small, Jus Funo, and Seraph IM on a single that was scheduled for release on November 17.

Widely admired for his contributions to house and amapiano, Poizen leaves behind a legacy of creativity, talent, and love for music.

Tributes have already begun pouring in from fans and fellow artists on social media, with many expressing disbelief at the sudden loss.

“Our hearts are with the families and next of kin of those who lost their lives and at the same time, we wish a speedy recovery to those injured. I once more urge all road users to be patient on the road. I am seriously concerned about these accidents which are as a result of recklessness,” said MEC Violet Mathye.

At the time of writing, no official statement has yet been released by his family or Sony Music, his record label.
