Limpopo Premier Ramathuba Urges Communities To Support Orphaned Children After Ga-Sekgopo Tragedy

Limpopo Premier Phophi Ramathuba has appealed to communities to stand together and care for the children left orphaned following a devastating road accident in Ga-Sekgopo that claimed 12 lives.

The tragic crash occurred last week when a minibus taxi carrying congregants returning from a church service collided with two trucks. All passengers, including the driver, died at the scene.

Mass Funeral Held for Victims of Ga-Sekgopo Accident

During a solemn mass funeral held on Friday, the premier addressed mourners and expressed deep sorrow over the loss of so many lives. The accident has left several families shattered and a number of children without parents.

“The tragedy has taken away loved ones and parents from innocent children,” Ramathuba said, emphasising the need for compassion and collective action during this painful time.

Ramathuba encouraged residents to draw on the spirit of ubuntu and provide emotional and practical support to the bereaved children.

“Let us also remember the strength of community, the ideals of ubuntu, which teach us that it takes a village to raise a child. Though those children are now deprived of their parents, let’s step in as a community and make sure that we nurture and educate them,” she said.
