Limpopo Police Arrest 18-Year-Old Man Over The Murder Of His 5-Month-Old Son

Limpopo’s Provincial Commissioner of Police, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has praised the prompt action of Malamulele police following the arrest of an 18-year-old man accused of killing his five-month-old son.

The incident occurred on Tuesday morning, 07 October 2025, in Jimmy Jones Village.

Local detectives conducted an intensive investigation, which led to the suspect’s arrest later that evening at approximately 22:00.

Mother Reports Domestic Violence Before Tragic Discovery

Reports indicate that the child’s mother had arrived at Malamulele Police Station to report an alleged assault by her boyfriend, who is also the father of the deceased infant.

While lodging her complaint, the mother told police that the suspect had repeatedly harmed their baby. Fearing for her own safety, she left the house, leaving the child in the care of the suspect.

Police accompanied her back to the residence, where they were confronted with a devastating scene: the infant’s lifeless body lying on the floor. Preliminary investigations revealed visible injuries to the head and face, suggesting severe assault prior to the child’s death.

Lieutenant General Hadebe described the incident as a “heartbreaking act of violence that no child should ever endure.” She also lauded the detectives for their swift and dedicated work, which led to the suspect’s arrest within hours.

The 18-year-old suspect is scheduled to appear before the Malamulele Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 09 October 2025, facing a charge of murder.
