Limpopo Gang Rape: Two Arrested After 14-Year-Old Attacked While Charging Phones

Police in Limpopo have arrested two suspects following the alleged gang rape of a 14-year-old girl in Pfananani village. The shocking incident reportedly occurred while the teenager was simply charging mobile phones at a neighbour’s home.

Neighbour’s House Becomes Crime Scene in Late-Night Attack

Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba confirmed that the alleged rape happened on the night of 29 December 2025, at around 11 pm. According to police reports, the victim had gone to a neighbour’s house to charge two mobile phones, with the neighbour’s permission. The neighbour was outside cooking at the time.

“The victim was allegedly taken to one of the bedrooms and raped by the two suspects as the neighbour and his friend went outside to check on the food they were cooking,” said Ledwaba.

Police Hunt and Arrest of Suspects in Tshitale Area

Police allege that two intoxicated men entered the house while the girl was inside with the neighbour and his friend. The suspects reportedly harassed the girl before taking her phones into a bedroom under the pretext of charging them.

They then allegedly dragged her into the bedroom and raped her. After the attack, the suspects fled the scene on foot.

The matter was reported, and a rape case was opened before being transferred to the Makhado Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit. A manhunt led to the arrest of the two suspects, aged 17 and 21, in the Tshitale policing area on 3 January 2026.

The two arrested men are expected to appear before the Tshitale Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 5 January 2026. They face a formal charge of rape. Police confirmed that investigations into the matter are continuing.
