Limpopo Couple Found Dead, Bodies In State Of Decomposition

Police in Limpopo are investigating a suspected murder-suicide after the decomposed bodies of a man and woman, believed to be a couple, were discovered at a home in Northam.

According to Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the couple, aged 24 and 34, were last seen on Christmas Day around 11:45 p.m. at a local tavern. Their bodies were found days later, with the woman lying in bed and the man hanging from the roof.

“The motive behind this shocking incident remains unknown, but a domestic-related dispute cannot be ruled out at this stage,” said Ledwaba.

Authorities are withholding the identities of the deceased pending notification of their families, though the woman is said to be from Lesotho.

Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, Limpopo’s Provincial Police Commissioner, condemned the incident and urged individuals in troubled relationships to seek professional help.

Robbery and Murder Case

In a separate incident, three suspects accused of robbing and killing a 59-year-old man in Sebayeng Township appeared in the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court.

The robbery and murder occurred on July 21, 2024, when the suspects allegedly forced their way into the victim’s home, attacked him, and strangled him before stealing an undisclosed sum of money. Police believe the victim had recently received a lump sum of cash.

The suspects were arrested on December 18 after a months-long investigation. Their case was postponed to January 3, 2025, to allow for legal preparation.

Police have hinted that more arrests may follow as the investigation unfolds.
