Lephalale Woman Wanted After Alleged False Documents Used In Vehicle Finance Deal

Police in Lephalale are appealing to the public for assistance in locating 37-year-old Cynthia Kgwete, who is believed to be able to assist with an ongoing fraud investigation.

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), a case was opened on 2 February 2026 after a complaint was lodged by Nedbank.

Alleged Fraud Involves Vehicle Finance Application

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect allegedly posed as a legitimate client and applied for vehicle finance to purchase a Ford Ranger Double Cab.

Police say false documentation was submitted during the application process, with misrepresented employment and income details used to secure approval.

The application was approved, and the vehicle was released. It was later discovered that the tracking device installed in the vehicle had been removed shortly after it left the dealership.

No repayments were made, prompting further investigation by the bank, which then reported the matter to police.

Lephalale Police Issue Warrant as Investigation Continues

Investigators found that the suspect allegedly provided false residential and work addresses in Gauteng.

A warrant of arrest has since been issued.

Police are urging anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspect to contact the investigating officer, Sergeant Simon Tjatjie Kekana, on 078 472 0505, the Crime Stop number 08600 10111, visit their nearest police station, or share information via the MySAPS App.

Investigations remain ongoing.
