SA Rejects Lekganyane’s ‘Stomach-Turning’ Greeting To Cat Matlala! “Stop Using Our Names”

South Africans were left outraged, gagged and confused after ANC MP and Ad Hoc Committee chairperson Soviet Lekganyane gave alleged attempted murderer Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala what can only be described as the warmest greeting in parliamentary history.

And Mzansi said: “Not in our name!”

A viral clip shared by @mdnews sent social media into a frenzy during Matlala’s second appearance before the high-stakes Ad Hoc Committee probing systemic corruption in the country’s law enforcement agencies.

The Greeting That Broke South Africa

In the video, Matlala simply says, “Good morning.” Lekganyane? Oh, he took it from 0 to Shakespeare.

Responding in Sepedi, he said: “Good morning, you’re worthy of the greeting. Even the people of South Africa sent their warm greetings from the depth of their hearts.”

EXCUSE US? Which South Africans exactly? Because the timeline did not approve this message.

Matlala kept a stone-cold face — meanwhile, South Africans were hot and bothered for all the wrong reasons.

Who Is Cat Matlala & Why Is SA Not Having It?

Matlala is not just any witness — he’s facing attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, fraud, and defeating the ends of justice.

The allegations stem from events that took place in Johannesburg between 12 and 17 October 2023.

He is accused of plotting to kill his socialite girlfriend Tebogo Thobejane and two others.

So yes — South Africans are rightfully asking why an accused in such a chilling case is being greeted like a long-lost cousin at a family reunion.
