Lebo Sekgobela Swaps Stage For Screen In Mzansi Bioskop’s Drama ‘Ingozi’

Gospel music sensation Lebo Sekgobela, beloved for her soul-stirring anthem Lion of Judah, is stepping into the spotlight in a whole new way — with her acting debut in the upcoming Mzansi Bioskop film Ingozi.
Set to premiere on July 20 at 7:30pm, the drama promises heart-racing moments and emotional depth, and Lebo is ready to shine.
Playing the role of Zanele, a character as musically gifted as she is grounded, Lebo Sekgobela says the experience was nothing short of magical.
“Being part of the Ingozi cast was a dream come true. They taught me so much and I got to work with an amazing and talented cast and crew,” she gushed.
Meet Zanele: A Role That Hits All the Right Notes
While Lebo Sekgobela may be new to acting, she found an instant connection with her character. Zanele isn’t just any supporting role — she’s a motherly musical muse in the life of Sandile, the troubled but talented protagonist who’s caught in a dangerous tug-of-war between music dreams and the criminal underworld.

“I relate so much to my character, Zanele. She’s amazing and also musical,” Lebo said, clearly vibing with the emotional heart of the film.
The story of Ingozi plays out in the rough-and-ready streets of South Africa’s vibrant music scene — with plenty of drama, tough choices, and the kind of twists that’ll have viewers clutching their remote like it’s the mic at a gospel revival.
