KZN Political Killings: 121 Task Team Dockets Handed To Madlanga Commission

The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry will receive 121 dockets from KwaZulu-Natal’s political killings task team, marking a crucial step in investigating the province’s high-profile political murders.

Previously moved to Pretoria, these files contain key evidence that could uncover the truth behind a series of explosive allegations.

These dockets were central to a series of explosive allegations revealed in July by KZN Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.

Change of Plans Following High-Level Police Meetings

Originally, the dockets had been confiscated and transferred to a team in Pretoria. Last week, Police National Commissioner Fannie Masemola announced they would be returned to the KZN task team.

However, plans changed after a meeting between Masemola and Acting Police Minister Feroz Cachalia, resulting in the decision to hand the files directly to the commission.

Ensuring Integrity and Thorough Investigation

Police ministry spokesperson Kamogelo Mogotsi explained the reasoning behind the move:

“The political killings task team dockets will be submitted to the commission in the format that they require. This is to ensure the integrity of the dockets and enable the commission to thoroughly investigate all the matters related to its terms of reference.”
