Meanwhile, police in the Eastern Cape are searching for two suspects in connection with the murder of 58-year-old Imam Muhsin Hendricks, who was fatally shot in Bethelsdorp, Gqeberha, on Saturday morning.
Hendricks, widely known as the first openly gay imam, was killed just hours before he was reportedly scheduled to officiate a same-sex wedding. Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said the imam was sitting in a gold VW T-Roc when a silver Toyota Hilux blocked the vehicle’s path.
