KZN Police Kill Two Suspects Armed With AK-47s

Two people were killed in a shootout with police in KwaZulu-Natal during the early hours of Monday. The incident unfolded in the Uvongo area, police confirmed.

SAPS spokesperson Capt Ntathu Ndlovu said the operation targeted individuals suspected of possessing unlicensed firearms.

Firearms Recovered During Operation

During the raid, officers recovered two AK-47 assault rifles and three pistols. Ndlovu explained, “Police were acting on intelligence relating to individuals in possession of unlicensed firearms. Officers approached the targeted house and announced their presence, but there was no response from inside.”

Suspects Fired at Police, No Officers Injured

According to Ndlovu, when cops entered the property, the two occupants opened fire. Officers returned fire, fatally wounding the suspects.

“No police officers were injured during the operation,” Ndlovu added.
