A KwaZulu-Natal farmer, Mike Pryor, was abducted from his home and murdered before his burnt remains were discovered in his vehicle in Mpophomeni, the uMngeni Local Municipality confirmed on Sunday.

Deputy Mayor Sandile Mnikathi expressed deep sorrow and shock at the news, saying Pryor, who owned Kwa Heri Farm in the Indezi Valley opposite Boschhoek, had been a respected member of the community.

According to the municipality, preliminary investigations by the South African Police Service (SAPS) indicate that Pryor was taken from his home late at night before his vehicle was found set alight, with his remains inside.

Early reports suggest that the killing may be linked to a disgruntled former employee, though police investigations are ongoing.
