KZN Domestic Dispute Ends In Arson: Uncle And Nephew Missing After House Fire In Osindisweni

A domestic dispute in Osindisweni, KwaZulu-Natal, has left two family members missing after a house was set alight. Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call at 17:34 on Thursday, reporting a fire that started shortly after 16:00.
According to witnesses, a 60-year-old man and his 20-year-old nephew, both allegedly intoxicated, were involved in a heated altercation. Neighbours claim the uncle struck his nephew with a bush-knife, leaving him with a deep facial wound.
Domestic Dispute: House Engulfed in Flames After Retaliation
The attack allegedly enraged the injured nephew, who retaliated by setting fire to his uncle’s home. Despite residents’ desperate attempts to contain the flames, the fire spread rapidly, destroying the house completely.

By the time Reaction Officers arrived at the scene, both men were missing. Locals reported seeing them during the altercation but were unable to account for their whereabouts after the blaze.

The disappearance of the uncle and nephew has unsettled the Osindisweni community. At the time of reporting, no images or identifying details of the missing men were made available to RUSA for public circulation.
