KZN Deploys Over 24,000 Law Enforcement Officers To Boost Festive Season Safety

More than 24,000 law enforcement officers have been deployed across KwaZulu-Natal as the province steps up safety operations for the busy festive period.

The deployment includes specialised police units, traffic officers, municipal enforcement teams and private security personnel working together across key hotspots.

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli said the integrated teams were mandated to ensure both residents and holidaymakers enjoy a safe holiday season.

Ntuli was speaking at the Council Against Crime gathering in Mayville, Durban, on Friday.

“These members are deployed at port entry, beaches, tourist routes, shopping centres, during major events and residential areas to ensure a 24/7 visibility, faster response time and stronger prevention measures of crime.”

He emphasised that consistent visibility and rapid response capabilities would be central to curbing criminal activity as visitor numbers increase.

“This integrated approach positions KwaZulu-Natal as a safe and attractive destination for both local and international visitors.”

Authorities believe the extensive deployment will not only deter crime but also support the tourism sector by reassuring visitors that KZN remains a secure holiday destination.
