KwaZulu-Natal Woman Allegedly Gang-Raped By Fifteen Men In Waterloo

A 25-year-old mother of two has reported being gang-raped by approximately fifteen men in Waterloo, KwaZulu-Natal. The alleged assault took place on Saturday evening while the woman was consuming alcohol at a local tavern.
The victim contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) at around 08:04 on Monday morning, more than 24 hours after the incident. Reaction Officers met her near her residence, where she recounted the events.
According to the victim, she visited the tavern around 21:00 on Saturday, where she met a man who befriended her. The following morning, she woke up in a back room at the tavern next to the same man. She discovered that her underwear and cellphone were missing.
Witness Claims to Have Seen Multiple Men Entering the Room
Reaction Officers also interviewed another woman who was present at the tavern on Saturday night. The witness said the victim appeared heavily intoxicated and had asked to rest in one of the rooms.
The witness claimed she saw a group of men enter the room and take turns raping the woman. However, she admitted that she was also intoxicated at the time and mistakenly believed the victim had consented.
She informed the victim of what had happened the following morning but stated she had no clear recollection of the incident.
