Khanyi Mbau Defends Cosmetic Surgery As Self-Expression

Khanyi Mbau, Mzansi’s original slay queen, has once again made headlines with her new face. The actress recently attended the exclusive launch and premiere of the upcoming film Meet The Khumalos in Durban, where she unveiled her transformed look. 

She asserts that such procedures are a form of self-expression rather than a reflection of self-love or confidence issues. In an interview, Mbau stated, “We first need to understand surgery and self-love have no relation. 

“People have tried to cushion their discomfort about what they feel is taboo by labeling their projections and saying surgery is a result of a lack of self-love.” 

Emphasizing her inherent confidence, Khanyi Mbau added, “I am a naturally confident person, so any procedure has never been about self-love and self-confidence. I cannot also attach self-love to any needle or procedure. Self-love is not something you apply. Self-love is love.”

In August 2024, Khanyi Mbau underwent additional cosmetic procedures, including blepharoplasty and a subnasal lift. She shared her post-surgery experience on Instagram, noting the tightness and anticipated healing process. 

Mbau expressed her desire for a more permanent solution to maintain a structured and youthful appearance, stating, “I grew tired of Botox and fillers every three months. Now looking for a permanent solution to a structured tight face.”
