Netflix Stirs The Pot! Khanya Mkangisa Joins Young, Famous And African “Isn’t She 40?”

Netflix’s Young, Famous & African is back to choosing chaos, and this time it’s brought in Khanya Mkangisa. Yes, that Khanya. Former The Queen actress, model, influencer and certified headline-maker has officially joined the cast of the hit reality series for its upcoming season, and Mzansi’s timelines are already on fire.

The show, which has been renewed for another season, continues to stack its cast with big personalities and even bigger egos. Khanya becomes the latest South African media figure to secure a spot, joining award-winning producer Prince Kaybee, who was also recently confirmed for the new season.

The casting news was first spilled by entertainment commentator Phil Mphela, who shared the update on X on Saturday, 17 January 2026. And from that moment? The streets started talking.

Khanya Mkangisa Enters Young, Famous & African

Many viewers believe the show’s producers are leaning into drama to boost viewership, especially after criticism that earlier seasons felt staged or rehearsed. Others feel Khanya’s personality makes her a perfect fit for the show’s chaotic energy.

However, not everyone is convinced she belongs on a show with “young” in the title, a debate that has followed Young, Famous & African since its first season.

Here are some of the reactions shared online, with users keeping it brutally honest:

ainzbhungane: “Some I’m thinking that they’ve realised that drama raises viewership, especially in reality, and with the previous cast, most of the drama wasn’t necessarily dramatic, and sometimes it looked 2 forced and rehearsed. From what we’ve seen of Khanya, she has a dramatic personality.”

@Noma99177: “This show is never about young people, but about the famous and rich. Let’s not focus on their age, but the content the y are giving us; it is a great show.”

@Zeal36744130: “Add Mihlali too. She has a brand new business, a nice car, and is beautiful, or Boity. I know Diamond won’t know what to do, who to pick because he always feels compelled to.”
