Khabonina Qubeka Blasts Shaka iLembe Ending: “This Was Not The Scene We Shot”

Actress, dancer and choreographer Khabonina Qubeka has revealed her disappointment with the Shaka iLembe Season 2 finale. The star, who brought the villainous Queen Ntombazi to life, said the ending left her heart shattered because it was nothing like what she had filmed.

Qubeka admitted she gave her all in those final scenes, only to find out that some had been “edited and deleted” by the time the episode aired.

Queen Ntombazi’s Shocking Exit

Season 2 marked the end of Queen Ntombazi’s reign, as her character was killed off in what many fans felt was an underwhelming send-off for such a powerful figure.

Khabonina hinted that what aired on screen was a watered-down version of her performance, saying: “My heart was shattered. When I saw the end last night… this was not the end we shot. I guess they decided to delete a few scenes and edit some moments. I had dedicated that performance to you guys.”

Her comments sparked even more speculation about what was cut out, though she refused to go into detail, adding that she had already “upset some people” and wanted to move on.

Fans Rally Behind Khabonina Qubeka

Mzansi fans wasted no time rushing to her defence, praising her artistry and expressing disappointment in how the series handled her exit.

@uNomafu_: “We have never seen a powerful witch like this. The witchcraft made me so uncomfortable. Definitely did an amazing job.”

@ZuluQueensOnly: “Ntombazi deserved a more dramatic ending! You can’t just kill off such a powerful character like that.”

@CultureWatchSA: “They robbed Khabonina of a legendary send-off. Editing those scenes was a crime.”

While fans are still reeling from her departure, Khabonina Qubeka has officially confirmed that she won’t be returning for the third and final season of Shaka iLembe.

But knowing her versatility as an actress, dancer, choreographer and fitness guru — Mzansi will definitely see her magic again on another stage or screen.
