The protests have triggered mixed reactions, with some foreign nationals criticising the demonstrations as misleading and inflammatory.

In response, the Nigerian government has accused South African authorities of failing to adequately address what it describes as threats and harassment faced by migrants.

Nigeria Plans Repatriation Flights As Tensions Rise

Officials in Abuja confirmed that emergency repatriation flights are being arranged for at least 130 Nigerian citizens.

Authorities said both documented and undocumented nationals have cited safety fears as the primary reason for wanting to return home.

The Nigerian Foreign Ministry has also called for impartial investigations into the deaths of at least two Nigerians who reportedly died in separate incidents involving South African security personnel last month.

Kenya Urges Citizens In South Africa To Stay Alert

Meanwhile, the Kenyan government has advised its citizens in South Africa to remain cautious and ensure they carry valid identification at all times.

It has also encouraged nationals to seek assistance from local police and contact the High Commission in Pretoria if needed.
