Kelly Smith Says She Had A ‘Nice’ Mother’s Day In Custody, Expresses Love For Joshlin

Despite being in custody, the mother of a missing child from Saldanha Bay had a “nice” Mother’s Day on Sunday.
Kelly Smith, who is currently expecting her fourth child, expressed her love for her missing daughter, Joshlin, while answering media questions outside the Vredenburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Smith, along with her boyfriend Jacquin “Boeta” Appollis, Steveno van Rhyn, and Lourentia Lombard, is facing charges of kidnapping and human trafficking following Joshlin’s disappearance from their home in the Middlebos informal settlement on February 19.
The four individuals are currently being held in custody. The court was informed that the investigation into Joshlin’s disappearance is still ongoing, with the police diligently following up on all available information.
A forensics report and cellphone downloads are currently being analyzed for further insights into the case. Western Cape MEC for Police Oversight and Community Safety, Reagen Allen, acknowledged the difficult time the community members of Saldanha Bay are going through, as it has been 84 days since the child went missing.
The case of Joshlin’s disappearance has brought the issue of missing persons to the forefront in the province. Allen expressed hope that Joshlin will be found and reunited with her family. The case has been postponed to July 15, allowing for more time to gather evidence and further investigate the circumstances surrounding the child’s disappearance.
