Kaya FM Suspends Sol Phenduka Amid Minnie Dlamini R2.5 Million Defamation Lawsuit

Kaya 959 has officially suspended radio presenter and podcaster Sol Phenduka, effective immediately, the station confirmed on Wednesday, August 20, without providing any details, only stating that the investigation is ongoing.

While the station cited an ongoing “internal process” as the reason, DJ Fresh revealed the suspension is linked to Minnie Dlamini’s R2.5 million lawsuit against Phenduka and his Podcast and Chill co-host, MacGyver “MacG” Mukwevho.

The case, lodged in the Equality Court, centres on allegations of misogynistic and defamatory remarks made during the podcast, which airs mainly on YouTube.

Minnie Dlamini Seeks R2.5 Million in Damages

Media personality Minnie Dlamini accuses the duo of hate speech, harassment, and gender-based discrimination following comments about her personal life and hygiene after her breakup with Dr Brian Monaisa during their show.

According to court papers, Dlamini is demanding R1 million in damages for the violation of her dignity and an additional R1.5 million to be donated to a non-profit organisation focused on gender-based violence.

Kaya FM Responds With Internal Investigation

In a public statement, Kaya 959 said Phenduka’s suspension is pending the outcome of an internal investigation, assuring that the matter will be handled with “fairness, sensitivity, and due process.”

However, the station has not shared further details, leaving fans and industry insiders speculating about the next steps for the presenter, who treated the suspension news with humour on social media.
