Justice Minister Demands Answers After Joburg Lawyer Bouwer van Niekerk’s Murder

Johannesburg attorney Bouwer van Niekerk, known for specialising in insolvency cases, was gunned down in his office near Sandton last week. Two unidentified attackers stormed the premises and fatally shot the lawyer, leaving the legal community in shock.

The murder has raised questions about whether his professional work may have played a role in his death.

Possible Link to Pyramid Scheme Case Under Scrutiny

Van Niekerk had recently been working on an insolvency case connected to the alleged pyramid scheme, the NTC Global Trade Fund.

While speculation continues to grow, Minister of Justice Mmamoloko Kubayi said it remains unclear whether his killing is linked to any of his ongoing legal matters.

Kubayi Demands Swift Justice

Minister Kubayi called on the public to assist investigators with any information that could help solve the case.

“The minister appreciates that a full investigation is underway and wishes to reiterate that the investigation must speedily deal with the perpetrators of this crime and bring them to book in order to restore faith in our laws and law enforcement officers,” her office said in a statement.
