Jacob Zuma’s Disciplinary Hearing Resumes On Virtual Platform Today

The African National Congress’s (ANC) disciplinary hearing against its former president, Jacob Zuma, is set to resume today. The proceedings, which have garnered significant attention, will be conducted on a virtual platform.
Jacob Zuma faces charges under rule 25 of the ANC constitution. He has been accused of endorsing the Umkhonto WeSizwe party ahead of the May general elections.
This endorsement has led to disciplinary actions against the former party president, a move that has sparked considerable debate within political circles.

Last week, the hearing was postponed to allow Tony Yengeni, Zuma’s representative and a former ANC National Executive Committee (NEC) member, to communicate the outcomes of the hearing to him.
Zuma has expressed dissatisfaction with the virtual nature of the hearing, insisting that the ANC constitution permits him to appear in person before the National Disciplinary Committee.
Additionally, Jacob Zuma has called for the hearing to be made public. However, the ANC has firmly stated that the disciplinary proceedings will not be conducted in person, nor will they be made public.
This stance from the ANC has been met with resistance from Zuma, who believes that a public hearing would ensure transparency and fairness.
