Kutoane, who portrayed the unforgettable Poni-Poni on Isitha: The Enemy, has died at the age of 39.

Black Brain Pictures Confirms Neo Kutoane’s Passing

On Monday, 23 February 2026, production company Black Brain Pictures confirmed the heartbreaking news in an official statement shared on Instagram and the show’s Facebook page.

According to the statement, Kutoane — born on 21 March 1986 — passed away on Sunday, 22 February 2026. The cause of death was not disclosed.

The production house paid tribute to the late actor, describing him as a consummate professional who consistently delivered powerful performances.

“Whether in moments of intensity or vulnerability, he carried his role with authenticity and depth, contributing meaningfully to the show’s impact and success,” part of the statement read.

They further extended condolences to his loved ones:

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and fans during this incredibly difficult time. May they find comfort in the legacy he leaves behind and in the many lives he touched through his craft. May his soul rest in peace.”

His passing comes just months after the show previously mourned another cast member — making this loss even heavier for the Isitha family.
