Iran’s New Leader Mojtaba Khamenei Breaks Silence After Coma And Amputation Claims

Iran’s new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has issued his first public statement since being named Iran’s new supreme leader, following widespread reports questioning his health and whereabouts.

The message was broadcast on Iranian state television on Thursday. Rather than appearing in person, the statement was read by a news anchor while an image of Khamenei was displayed on screen.

In the statement, the ayatollah pledged retaliation and vowed that Iran would continue to apply pressure in the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

“We will avenge the blood of our martyrs,” Khamenei added. “I would like to thank the brave fighters who are doing a great job at a time when our country is under pressure and under attack.”

The statement comes amid unconfirmed reports suggesting the new leader may be seriously injured.

According to claims cited by the British tabloid The Sun report, an Iranian source alleged that Khamenei is in intensive care at Sina University Hospital in Tehran after suffering major injuries during the strikes that reportedly killed his father.

“One or two of his legs have been cut off. His liver or stomach has also ruptured. He is apparently in a coma as well,” the source alleged.

However, other sources inside Iran have suggested the injuries were less severe, reportedly including a fractured foot, a bruised eye and facial cuts sustained during the initial wave of airstrikes.

New leader still unseen after succession announcement

Khamenei has not appeared publicly since being named successor to his father, Ali Khamenei, who was reportedly killed during strikes carried out by the United States and Israel on 28 February.

His absence has fuelled speculation about his condition, particularly after he failed to attend a succession rally held in Tehran earlier this week.

In the televised statement, Khamenei also indicated that Iran would continue military action in the region, insisting that operations were aimed at American military installations even as tensions escalate across the Gulf.

With conflicting reports emerging about his health and no confirmed public appearance, uncertainty continues to surround the new leader’s condition and Iran’s next move in the intensifying regional conflict.
