Iran Threatens To ‘Kill’ Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu As Missiles Fly Across Middle East

Tensions across the Middle East have surged after Iran’s powerful military arm issued a direct threat against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu while missiles and drones continued to strike multiple countries in the region.

The latest escalation comes as Iranian forces intensify attacks, Israeli troops battle Hezbollah fighters in southern Lebanon, and several Gulf nations intercept incoming projectiles.

IRGC Threatens Netanyahu As Missile Attacks Intensify

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has vowed to target Israel’s leadership as hostilities between Iran, Israel and the United States deepen.

Iranian state television reported that Tehran fired another wave of missiles towards Israel on Sunday.

The Guards issued a warning aimed directly at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, declaring their intention to pursue him.

“If this child-killing criminal is alive, we will continue to pursue and kill him with full force,” said the Guards on their website Sepah News.

Meanwhile, the IRGC also claimed it launched a series of missiles towards US forces stationed at a major military base in Saudi Arabia’s Al-Kharj region.

Saudi authorities did not immediately confirm the strike. However, the kingdom’s defence ministry said earlier that its air defence systems intercepted six ballistic missiles headed toward Al-Kharj.

Israel–Hezbollah Clashes Escalate As Lebanon Considers Peace Talks

At the same time, fighting has intensified along Israel’s northern border.

Lebanese militant group Hezbollah said its fighters engaged in “direct clashes” with Israeli troops in the southern Lebanese town of Khiam late on Saturday.

According to the group, the confrontation involved “light and medium weapons as well as rocket-propelled projectiles”.

As the violence continues, Lebanese officials are reportedly preparing a diplomatic initiative aimed at ending the conflict with the Iran-backed group.

A government official told AFP that discussions are underway to create a negotiation delegation to engage Israel.

“Negotiations are on the table and preparations are underway to form a delegation, but… neither the timing nor the location has been determined, with Paris and Cyprus being considered,” the official said.

Israel has not yet publicly committed to taking part in the proposed talks.

Gulf Nations On Alert As Drones, Missiles And Oil Route Concerns Rise

Elsewhere in the Gulf region, air defence systems have been busy responding to incoming threats.

Explosions were heard over Bahrain’s capital Manama early on Sunday, according to AFP journalists on the ground.

Bahrain’s government later revealed it had intercepted 125 missiles and 203 drones since the start of the Iranian offensive. The attacks have killed two people in the kingdom and a further 24 across neighbouring Gulf states.

The worsening security situation has also disrupted global sport, with Formula One races scheduled for April in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia cancelled by motorsport’s governing body.

In Iraq, two security sources said a drone strike late Saturday targeted the Baghdad airport complex, where a military base and a US diplomatic facility are located.

The drones “targeted the military base” but were brought down just outside the complex, one source said. Another official reported that a crashed drone sparked a large fire near the airport.

Amid the rising tensions, US President Donald Trump urged major global powers to help safeguard the Strait of Hormuz — a crucial maritime corridor for global oil shipments.

“The Countries of the World that receive Oil through the Hormuz Strait must take care of that passage, and we will help – A LOT!” Trump said on social media.

Separately, the Pentagon released the names of six US service members who died earlier this week when a refuelling aircraft crashed in western Iraq.

Authorities confirmed the incident was not the result of “hostile fire”.

Those killed were John Klinner, 33; Ariana Savino, 31; Ashley Pruitt, 34; Seth Koval, 38; Curtis Angst, 30; and Tyler Simmons, 28.
