Interpol Sniffs Out American Fugitive Hiding On Northern Cape Farm

A 41-year-old American national was arrested on Sunday in Kanoneiland following a coordinated operation involving the South African Police Service (SAPS) and Interpol.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Omphile Masegela confirmed that Interpol officials contacted Kanoneiland police after receiving intelligence that the suspect — wanted in connection with several serious offences, including kidnapping — was hiding in the area.

“The SAPS team, comprising Kanoneiland SAPS, Upington Border Police and Upington Highway Patrol, in conjunction with Interpol officials, traced and arrested the suspect at a farm in the vicinity,” said Masegela.

The suspect is currently in custody and is expected to be extradited to the United States in due course, pending legal processes.
