Intensive Manhunt Launched After  Vehicle Hijacking In Bloemfontein

Police in Bloemfontein have launched an intensive manhunt after a suspect abandoned a hijacked white FIAT and fled on foot during a confrontation with the Provincial Anti-Gang Unit.

The dramatic events unfolded when a vehicle was hijacked in the Rocklands area.

The victim’s vehicle was stolen, but quick action by the police led to a swift response and a subsequent high-speed chase through the city.

According to police spokesperson Sergeant Mahlomola Kareli, the Provincial Anti-Gang Unit immediately initiated a citywide search after receiving information about the hijacking.

Within 35 minutes, officers spotted the stolen vehicle during their patrol in the area.

The hijacked white FIAT was located at the intersection of Moseme Street and Thaka Lekwala Street in Rocklands.

A high-speed chase ensued, but as officers closed in on the suspect, the hijacker abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, prompting an immediate manhunt.

“The suspect fled the scene on foot before police could make an arrest, and the vehicle was recovered,” confirmed Kareli.

Officers have since returned the stolen vehicle to its rightful owner, and a case of hijacking has been opened at the Kagisanong Police Station.
