Instagram Comments Can Now Be Edited Within 15 Minutes After Posting

Instagram users can now make quick corrections to their comments thanks to a newly introduced editing feature. Parent company Meta has rolled out the update, allowing people to revise what they’ve written shortly after posting.
The feature enables users to edit comments within a 15-minute window, giving them time to fix typos, adjust wording or add extra detail. However, edits are limited to comments made from a user’s own account, ensuring that only original posters can make changes.
The move mirrors a similar function introduced for direct messages in 2024, more than a decade after messaging first launched on Instagram in 2013.
How To Edit Instagram Comments Within 15 Minutes
Using the new tool is straightforward. Users simply tap on the “Edit” option located beneath their comment.
This opens a text box where the original message can be revised, whether to refine phrasing or correct mistakes. Once changes are made, tapping the blue check mark confirms and saves the update.
Importantly, users can edit their comments multiple times within the 15-minute timeframe. This flexibility allows for ongoing adjustments without needing to delete and repost.
Meta Expands Instagram Features With Recent Updates
Comments appear across several areas of Instagram, including Stories — a functionality that was extended in 2024. The addition of editing capabilities is therefore seen as a practical enhancement to how users interact across the platform.
This update forms part of a broader wave of changes introduced by Meta in recent weeks. Earlier in March, the company revealed it would remove end-to-end encryption from Instagram’s direct messages.
