A graduate in Communications Science, Inno brings a rare, unfiltered look into South Africa’s nightlife scene — and she’s making one thing crystal clear: she’s not a slay queen.

“I said yes to this documentary because they allowed me to tell my story in my own words,” she explained. “As a club host, I work hard for long hours bringing crowds and spenders to venues — while slay queens are mostly there to look cute and chase their next bag.”

Behind the Glamour: What Really Goes Down in the Nightlife Scene

Inno’s revelations in Slay Queens offer a reality check on the glitzy façade of Instagram-perfect lifestyles. She doesn’t shy away from exposing the darker side of the “bag-chasing” culture.

“Some girls travel overseas without money or return tickets, just to post that they’re there,” she said. “It always ends in tears. I found those stories shocking.”

Her candidness extends beyond gossip — she’s using her platform to shed light on empowerment and survival in nightlife spaces. A known GBV activist and survivor, Inno believes the documentary can help young women make wiser choices.

“This show will open a lot of young women’s eyes,” she said. “It’s about choosing the right way to do things and not putting your life in danger.”

More than just spilling secrets, Inno hopes her story inspires others to embrace hustle and patience over shortcuts. “It’s okay for a black woman to work hard and still look good,” she said. “It took me years to get where I am. The soft life doesn’t come easy.”

The documentary also features voices like DJ Cyan Boujee, Mr JazziQ, Jackie Phamotse, and Lebo Masango, each bringing unique perspectives to the glitzy yet gritty world of ambition, beauty, and survival.

As Inno puts it — people will always talk, but she’s too busy building her brand to care. Slay Queens premieres on Showmax on 31 October, with new episodes dropping every Friday.
