Jacobus Lodevickus Janse Van Rensburg, a citizen of South Africa, is facing several serious criminal charges in the United States.
According to authorities, the charges against him include aggravated assault with a weapon, assault, and driving under the influence (DUI). At the time of his arrest, officials identified Van Rensburg as an undocumented immigrant.
ICE confirmed that his immigration status played a role in the decision to detain him following the alleged offences.
