Suspended Already? Messy Truth Behind How Sol Phenduka Allegedly Bagged Kaya FM Job

Mzansi was left shook on Wednesday, 20 August 2025, when Kaya FM announced the suspension of popular broadcaster Sol Phenduka, barely a month after he celebrated his work anniversary. The station said the move was pending an “internal investigation” — but fans immediately started digging.

Did Sizwe Dhlomo Pull Strings For Sol Phenduka?

Not long after the suspension, a spicy old video from The Konvo Show podcast resurfaced. In the clip, controversial podcaster Nota Baloyi spilled that Sol allegedly didn’t just “land” his Kaya gig — he was placed there.

Nota claimed that Sizwe Dhlomo, who allegedly has a stake in Kaya FM, was part of the reason Sol Phenduka was hired. According to Nota, he personally asked Sizwe to “take Sol” in order to protect Podcast and Chill from industry sabotage.

“Yo, your home’s company is trying to take Sol and kill ‘Podcast and Chill’. Please take him and take that off the table — and that was done.”

Industry Politics or Pure Cap?

The tea has divided Mzansi. Some believe Nota’s claims, saying the way people treat Sizwe Dhlomo makes it obvious he holds serious power behind the scenes. Others dismissed it as another wild Nota conspiracy.

Here’s what the streets are saying:

@CoolyNicey: “This might be true. The way others act around Sizwe ngathi bayamsaba 🥺.”

@Given_47: “They remind me of high school lies — funny, but hey, what else do we do?”

@Deekay_Mudau: “The way Sizwe moves and how Sol kept saying he knows everything at Kaya, you’d believe this.”

Who Really Owns Kaya FM?

The resurfaced clip has also sparked confusion about who actually owns Kaya FM. While Nota pointed fingers at Sizwe Dhlomo, other names like Greg Maloka and Mr Malibu of Funduzi Media were thrown into the mix.

So far, Kaya FM has remained mum on both the suspension details and the ownership drama — but the TL is already cooking its own theories.
