Hout Bay Shooting Leaves Two Dead, Five Injured And 7 Suspects Arrested

Detectives from the Provincial Serious and Violent Crime Unit, alongside the Taxi Violence Team, are investigating a deadly shooting that took place on Thursday, 21 August 2025, around 20:15 in OR Tambo Road, Imizamo Yethu, Hout Bay.

The attack left two men dead and five others, aged 22 to 43, injured.

Police confirmed that two counts of murder and five attempted murders have been registered at Hout Bay SAPS.

Victims Found at Fire Department and Shooting Scene

According to reports, Hout Bay police officers responded to a complaint at the Hout Bay Fire Department, where they found four victims being treated for gunshot wounds. The victims told officers that two more people were at the original scene and were likely deceased.

When police arrived at the OR Tambo Road location, they discovered two bodies lying on the ground with fatal gunshot wounds. It was later confirmed that a fifth injured victim had already been transported to the hospital before police arrived.

The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation. Authorities confirmed the arrest of seven suspects aged between 19 and 31, and two firearms were recovered. Police stated that the weapons will undergo ballistic testing as part of the ongoing inquiry.

The arrested suspects are expected to appear in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court once formally charged.
