Heartbroken Mother Pleads For Help To Find Murdered Son’s Body In Verulam, KZN

A grieving 65-year-old mother and her family turned to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) in Ethekwini on Sunday, 24 August 2025, desperate for help in locating the body of her murdered son.

Her son, 36-year-old Sthembiso Micheal Jali, also known as Bruce or Sthe, was last seen two months ago being assaulted and forced into the trunk of a white Toyota Etios. According to community sources, Jali was killed and his body dumped after he allegedly failed to pay off a debt.

Law enforcement later questioned the suspected driver of the Toyota, but he denied any knowledge of the crime.

Victim Struggled With Addiction and Street Life

Jali, who had been battling drug addiction, had been living on the streets of Verulam CBD, KwaZulu-Natal, for the past two years. Despite his struggles, he leaves behind a 10-year-old son, who is currently in the care of his grandmother in Mhlasini, KZN.

Police at SAPS Verulam have opened a case, with the matter registered under Missing Person Report reference number 291/08/2025.

The victim’s mother says her health has deteriorated since learning about her son’s murder. She is now pleading for any information that could lead to the recovery of his body, so the family can finally lay him to rest.

“We just want to find him and give him a proper burial,” she told RUSA.

Authorities and the family are urging anyone with credible information to come forward and assist in bringing closure to this heartbreaking case.
