Hawks Probe Duduzile Zuma Over Claims She Sent 17 SA Men To Frontlines Of Russia-Ukraine War

The Hawks are investigating alleged July 2021 unrest instigator and MK Party MP Duduzile Zuma after claims she manipulated 17 South African men into travelling to Russia to assist in its ongoing military conflict with Ukraine.
The case was opened by Duduzile’s older sister at the Sandton Police Station, accusing her of misleading the group into a dangerous situation.
A News24 report states the men believed they were heading to Russia for security training before taking up roles protecting senior MK Party figures. Duduzile has since opened her own case, alleging she was also misled and recruited the men under false pretences.
Hawks Assess Claims of Fraud, Trafficking and Illegal Recruitment
The Hawks’ spokesperson, Thandi Mbambo, confirmed that statements from both sisters are being investigated as part of a joint probe into potential human trafficking, fraud and illegal recruitment.

“The DPCI [Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation] remains in contact with the complainants and family members as part of the investigative process, and updates will be provided where appropriate without compromising the integrity of the investigation,” Mbambo said.
