Hawks Hunt ‘G6’: Zimbabwean Socialite Chivayo Wanted In R15m Gold Case

The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, commonly known as the Hawks, have declared Zimbabwean socialite Joachim Chivayo wanted after he failed to appear in court in connection with a R15 million gold case.
Chivayo — widely known online as “G6” for flaunting a luxury lifestyle — and his co-accused Ayanda Brian Gungwa were arrested on 28 November 2024 during a Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigation operation in Brakpan.

The pair were allegedly found in possession of six bars of unwrought gold valued at approximately R15 million. Authorities also seized a Mercedes-Benz SUV at the time.
Bail Conditions Ignored, Warrants Issued
Hawks national spokesperson Brigadier Thandi Mbambo confirmed that both men were granted R20,000 bail each by the Brakpan Magistrate’s Court on 28 November 2024.
Strict conditions were imposed. They were barred from leaving South Africa or Gauteng and were instructed to report to Brakpan Police Station every Sunday from 1 December 2024.
The case was postponed to 25 February 2025 for further investigation.
However, both accused failed to appear in court on the scheduled date.
On 11 March 2025, the Brakpan Magistrate’s Court issued J50 warrants of arrest for the two men. Mbambo confirmed they have since been circulated as wanted suspects.
The Hawks have not indicated whether investigators believe the pair remain in South Africa.
Chivayo Lifestyle Under Spotlight
Chivayo has built a prominent social media presence, frequently posting images of high-end vehicles and lavish celebrations. He is often seen showcasing luxury cars, including what appears in posts to be a Rolls-Royce Cullinan.
Gungwa, who is sometimes referred to online as “Pharaoh”, has also appeared in social media posts. In some Zimbabwean commentary, he is referred to as “Naison Chivayo”, leading to confusion over his identity.

Chivayo has been publicly associated with Zimbabwean businessman and philanthropist Wicknell Chivayo. In a May 2025 Facebook post, Wicknell described Joachim “G6” Chivayo as his “dear little brother”, celebrating his birthday and praising what he called a growing business empire.
Social media content also shows Joachim “G6” Chivayo and Naison “Pharaoh” Chivayo attending a graduation ceremony at the Chitepo School of Ideology in Harare, a political training institution linked to Zimbabwe’s ruling party, ZANU-PF.
The case remains under investigation as authorities seek to trace the whereabouts of the accused.
