Hawks Arrest Suspect In Sir Lowry’s Pass Cash-In-Transit Robbery

A 32-year-old suspect has been taken into custody following a cash-in-transit robbery in Sir Lowry’s Pass village, just outside Cape Town.

The armed robbery unfolded a week ago outside a local grocery supermarket on Old Sir Lowry’s Pass Road.

According to investigators, the security guard was ambushed at gunpoint moments after leaving the store with a money bag.

Hawks Trace Getaway Vehicle to Suspect

The Hawks allege the armed suspect approached the guard from behind, pointed a firearm at him, and fled with an undisclosed amount of money along with the guard’s service weapon.

Hawks spokesperson Zinzi Hani detailed how the arrest came together, “The suspect fled the scene on foot.

“The gateway vehicle, which was identified by a bystander, was later found with the suspect driving it yesterday, and was immediately arrested. Investigators have positively linked him to the incident.”

Authorities confirmed that the suspect is due to make his first court appearance on Wednesday, where he will face charges related to the robbery.
