“Hands Off Mkhwanazi!” Ndlozi’s Explosive Warning Sparks Clash With Malema

Former Economic Freedom Fighters MP Mbuyiseni Ndlozi has issued a strong warning, urging South Africans to defend KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi from what he described as relentless attacks.

Ndlozi’s remarks come amid intensifying political debate, where he called for protection of the senior police official against what he labelled “petty, egotistical, pompous and parasitic attacks”.

Malema Slams Top Cop Amid Growing Tensions

Ndlozi’s comments followed sharp criticism from his former party leader, Julius Malema, who accused Mkhwanazi of dragging both him and the EFF into internal police disputes.

“Mkhwanazi is fighting General Khan. And every time he fights General Khan he drags the EFF’s name. He drags the CIC’s name to fight General Khan. Let him fight Khan if they have got their own issues and leave the EFF out of their nonsense, because the EFF is not part of any nonsense they are fighting about in the police,” Malema said.

The remarks come amid speculation over alleged links involving General Khan, who attended an EFF gala dinner in 2023, fuelling further public debate.

“Society Must Defend Itself” — Ndlozi Raises Alarm

Taking to social media, Ndlozi doubled down on his stance, warning of serious consequences if figures like Mkhwanazi are not protected.

“Hands Off General Mkhwanazi! A society that doesn’t protect whistleblowers is doomed to become a mafia state! They have already killed Babita. What do you think they will do to Mkhwanazi? He must be shielded from all petty, egotistical, pompous and parasitic attacks!

“All who try to reduce his mission to ‘personality fight’, or even factions within the SA Police Service (Saps) are all wrong. Journalists, politicians & many experts have been peddling this line. What this line seeks to do is to neutralise the correct momentum against Saps [officials] who have protected, advanced and benefitted from organised criminals with the endorsement of top politicians.”

He added that the commissioner’s efforts were aimed at exposing “criminals that are embedded with top politicians and top generals”.

“If Mkhwanazi doesn’t win this battle, which is a people’s battle, then ours will become a banana republic, a mafia state ruled by men with guns! Society must defend itself!”

While Ndlozi did not directly name Malema, many observers believe his comments were aimed at the EFF leader’s recent criticism.

Malema Responds: “We Are Not Scared of Policemen”

Speaking at a recent rally, Malema pushed back against Mkhwanazi, issuing a firm warning.

“He must never think he can blackmail or threaten anyone. We are not scared of policemen,” Malema said.

His comments come after he was mentioned during proceedings at the Madlanga Commission, where allegations of political interference in a City of Tshwane security tender surfaced.

During testimony by Sergeant Fannie Nkosi, evidence was presented suggesting communication between Malema, City of Tshwane CFO Gareth Mnisi, and Tshwane Metro Police Department deputy commissioner Umashi Dhlamini.

Nkosi alleged that Dhlamini had provided a list of seven preferred service providers, reportedly linked to the EFF and Malema.
