Cape Town Guest House Managers Arrested For Alleged Human Trafficking In Goodwood Raid

Two guest house managers are expected to appear in the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court on Monday, facing serious human trafficking charges following a dramatic raid in Goodwood, Cape Town. The arrests stem from a joint operation on Friday involving the Hawks units from Bellville and George, immigration officials from the Department of Home Affairs, and a local NGO.

According to Hawks spokesperson Lt. Col. Siyabulela Vukubi, the raid was triggered by a tip-off about a woman possibly being held against her will and forced into sex work at the premises.

“This was as a result of a search warrant executed after information was received of a possible trafficked victim being held against her will in a guest house in Goodwood and forced to work as a sex worker,” Vukubi confirmed.

Multiple Women, Children Found on Site

The search uncovered a disturbing scene: four women admitted to working as sex workers, while five other adults—including three small children—were also found inside the building. Authorities identified two of the individuals as the guest house managers, aged 31 and 34, who were immediately arrested.

One of the women was confirmed to be a victim of human trafficking and has since been moved to a medical facility and a place of safety.

“Investigation revealed one of the sex workers was a victim of trafficking. The two managers of the guest house were arrested,” said Vukubi.

Court Appearance and Ongoing Investigation

The suspects are set to make their first court appearance on Monday, where they will be formally charged. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of further arrests as the investigation continues into potential human trafficking networks operating in the area.
