Good Samaritans Shot While Offering Help On Mpumalanga Roads

Two brothers, described as “good samaritans” by law enforcement, were shot while attempting to assist a vehicle alongside the R40 near Kruger National Park. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning at approximately 2:30 am.

Details of the Shooting

The victims, who were reportedly familiar with the stationary vehicle that required assistance, stopped believing the occupants might be in trouble. However, as they approached the scene, an unknown gunman opened fire.

One brother sustained shots to his lower body, while the other was struck in the back. Tragically, following the shooting, they were robbed of their firearm as the assailants fled the scene.

Aftermath and Public Safety Concerns

Following the attack, one of the brothers managed to drive himself to the hospital, but it was later confirmed by Captain Magonseni Nkosi of the Mpumalanga police that one succumbed to his injuries.

Police commissioner Major General Zeph Mkhwanazi urged motorists to prioritize their safety and contact authorities before intervening in potentially hazardous situations, emphasizing the importance of community vigilance.
