Gogo Maweni Arrested For Alleged Murder And Assault

The controversial celebrity sangoma, Gogo Maweni—known for her flamboyant lifestyle and whispered ties to witchcraft—has found herself on the wrong side of the law.
Born Makgotso Mofokeng, the 39-year-old was arrested in a dramatic police operation in Mondeor this past Sunday.
Charges Stacked Against Maweni
Gogo Maweni will appear before the Protea Magistrates’ Court on Monday, facing charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH). The charge stems from a 2019 incident, but that’s not where the story ends.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo confirmed that Maweni is linked to four pending murder cases spanning from 2020 to 2024 in Eldorado Park, Mondeor, Orange Farm, and Bekkersdal. These cases, reportedly part of cold case investigations, are still under scrutiny.
The sangoma’s legal woes don’t end there. Another celebrity sangoma, Gogo Skhotheni, escalated the drama last month by airing shocking allegations.
Feuding Sangomas Spill the Tea
In a no-holds-barred TikTok rant, Skhotheni accused Maweni of committing multiple murders and even provided case numbers to back up her claims. Skhotheni claimed: “Maweni had confessed to the murders while drunk to her family.”
Maweni’s own brother reportedly shared the chilling information with Skhotheni.
But Skhotheni wasn’t just spilling tea—she was firing shots, accusing Maweni of attempting to perform rituals involving her late child’s body. “I will fight to the bitter end,” Skhotheni declared.
State to Oppose Bail
The stakes are high as the state has announced plans to oppose Maweni’s bail. With allegations of witchcraft, murder, and high-profile feuds, this case is set to grip the nation.
