German Tourist Dies After Collapsing At Nelson Mandela Memorial In Howick

A 59-year-old German tourist has died after collapsing at the Nelson Mandela Capture Site near Howick on Monday afternoon.
The memorial, which honours former president Nelson Mandela, is a well-known attraction visited by both local and international tourists.
Emergency Response and Medical Efforts
Midlands emergency services and paramedics were dispatched to the scene at approximately 3.30pm.
“On arrival it was established that the patient had gone into cardiac arrest and cardiopulmonary resuscitation was already in progress. Emergency interventions were initiated immediately by paramedics on the scene.

“Despite all efforts by emergency personnel, the patient was declared deceased on the scene.”
Cause of German Tourist Death Linked to Cardiac Arrest
Authorities confirmed that the man went into cardiac arrest. Despite swift intervention and ongoing resuscitation attempts, he could not be revived.
