Gauteng Police Investigate Fatal Shooting Of Two Tembisa School Staff At Inxiweni Primary

Two staff members at Inxiweni Primary School in Tembisa, Ekurhuleni, were fatally shot by unknown assailants in a shocking incident that has left the community reeling. Authorities have launched a full investigation into the murders.

Preliminary reports indicate the attack occurred around 5pm on Tuesday while the staff were preparing for a scheduled meeting. The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation.

Gauteng Education officials are actively engaging with those affected. Steve Mabona, spokesperson for the department, confirmed the response from leadership.

Gauteng Leaders Visit Scene and Support Families

“Premier Panyaza Lesedi and Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane visited the school to assess the scene and ascertain facts surrounding the incident.

“They also interacted with both families to convey their condolences and to express their support during the difficult time,” Mabona said.

In response to the incident, Gauteng Education is deploying psychological support teams to the school.

“Psychological support teams, including officials from the Ekurhuleni North District, will be dispatched to the school to provide counselling and trauma support to learners. Employee wellness will also visit the school for necessary support,” Mabona added.

The department emphasises that these measures aim to assist both students and staff in coping with the emotional aftermath of the attack.
