Fraud Case Against Crime Intelligence Chief Dumisani Khumalo Postponed To 2026

The high-profile fraud and corruption case involving Crime Intelligence head Dumisani Khumalo and several senior officials has been postponed to next year.

Khumalo and his co-accused are facing allegations of manipulating recruitment processes to secure the appointment of Brigadier Dineo Mokwele to a top-ranking position—reportedly despite her lack of policing experience.

The matter was expected to proceed this week, but the court confirmed that it will resume next year as the state finalises its preparations.

State Pushes to Move Case to High Court

All the accused are currently out on R10 000 bail. They have also applied for their bail conditions to be relaxed so they can return to work while awaiting trial.

Meanwhile, the state has submitted an application to escalate the case to the High Court, signalling the seriousness of the charges and the potential for a lengthy legal process ahead.
