Fourteen-Man Springboks Stun France With Powerful Comeback In Autumn International

World champions South Africa showcased incredible resilience as they stormed back from a 14–6 deficit to crush France 32–17 in a fiercely contested Autumn International on Saturday.

Despite losing powerhouse lock Lood de Jager to a red card just before half-time, the Springboks displayed relentless determination and composure under pressure.

France, who had looked dominant early in the match, completely lost their rhythm as their discipline unravelled. Their downfall came in the form of costly errors and penalties, allowing South Africa to seize momentum and turn the game on its head.

The result came just two years after France’s heartbreaking 29–28 defeat to the Springboks in the Rugby World Cup quarter-final on home soil — and once again, Les Bleus were left stunned by the world champions.

Springboks Punish French Mistakes With Ruthless Precision

Still missing their injured captain Antoine Dupont, France began the game in commanding fashion. Winger Damian Penaud scored twice in quick succession, surpassing Serge Blanco’s long-standing record to become his country’s all-time leading try scorer with 40 tries.

However, a string of reckless infringements and a crucial yellow card opened the door for the Springboks. South Africa capitalised with clinical efficiency, punishing every French mistake and shifting the momentum firmly in their favour.

Despite being reduced to 14 men, South Africa refused to back down. Their comeback was fuelled by tries from Cobus Reinach, Andre Esterhuizen, Grant Williams, and Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu.

The young star also impressed with two penalties and three conversions, securing a commanding 32–17 victory for the visitors.

The performance reaffirmed South Africa’s world champion pedigree — a blend of physicality, tactical discipline, and unbreakable spirit that once again left France searching for answers.
