Four Suspects Arrested For Possession Of Suspected Stolen Bank Cards

An intelligence-driven operation conducted by Crime Intelligence, the Witbank Tactical Response Team, the Middleburg Flying Squad, and a tracking company has resulted in the arrest of four suspects in possession of 68 suspected stolen bank cards on the N4 Freeway in Belfast. This operation took place on Tuesday, 19 November 2024.

Reliable sources informed the authorities about the presence of bank cards stored in a house located in the Siyancoba section of Witbank. Surveillance was initiated, and yesterday morning at approximately 06:00, the suspects were observed loading the suspected stolen cards into a vehicle and departing the residence.

Suspects Arrested

Law enforcement members were immediately activated, and a pursuit ensued. The vehicle was eventually cornered on the N4 Freeway en route to Nelspruit. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed 68 bank cards. The four occupants, aged between 40 and 42, were unable to provide any authorisation for possessing such cards.

The suspects have been arrested for possession of suspected stolen bank cards and are expected to appear before the Belfast Magistrate’s Court soon. The police have not ruled out the possibility of additional charges pending further investigation.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, commended the exemplary work displayed by SAPS members, the whistleblower, and the private tracking company.

“We are well prepared to clamp down on criminal activities this festive season and beyond. Criminals must know that they have no space in Mpumalanga,” Major General Mkhwanazi warned.
