Four Suspects Killed In Dramatic Police Shootout South Of Durban

Four suspects linked to a string of violent crimes were shot dead during a confrontation with police at Adam’s Mission in the KwaMakhutha policing area, south of Durban, on Thursday afternoon.

The incident unfolded while officers were conducting an intelligence-driven operation targeting suspects believed to be behind a wave of serious offences in Umbumbulu and surrounding communities.

Police confirmed that no officers were injured during the exchange of gunfire, while one suspect managed to flee the scene and remains at large.

Police Track Suspected Crime Syndicate Vehicle

According to police, officers identified a vehicle matching the description of one allegedly used by the suspects to carry out armed robberies, house robberies, carjackings and kidnappings across several areas.

The vehicle was spotted during the operation, prompting officers to move in as part of efforts to stop the suspects and effect arrests.

Police caught up with the men on Sheleni Road, where a confrontation quickly escalated into a shootout.

When the gunfire subsided, four men were found with fatal gunshot wounds. Police indicated that the men were attempting to evade arrest and were killed during an exchange of fire with officers.

Manhunt Launche  as Crime Scene Secured

One suspect narrowly escaped during the incident, triggering an intensive manhunt as police work to track him down.

Officers remain at the scene as investigations continue and the area is processed. Authorities have confirmed that the situation remains under active assessment.
