Four Suspects Killed In Shootout With Police On M4 Freeway Near Durban

In a dramatic and daring confrontation on the M4 Southern Freeway near the Old Airport, south of Durban, four suspects were shot dead during an exchange of gunfire with the South African Police Service (SAPS) on Tuesday evening.
ALS Paramedics were called to the scene after 6 pm, where they found the bodies of the suspects, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

Despite the paramedics’ efforts, all four men were declared dead at the scene.
According to ALS Paramedics spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson, the SAPS had already secured the area and closed off the road to traffic.
The exact circumstances surrounding the confrontation remain unclear, but authorities confirmed that the police officers involved in the skirmish were unharmed.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.

When paramedics arrived at the location, they were escorted to a vehicle where the four deceased men were found.

Although details about the encounter remain scarce, Jamieson confirmed that all necessary authorities were on-site to investigate further.
At the time of the incident, the M4 freeway was temporarily closed, particularly the southbound lanes, causing traffic disruptions in the area.
Four Suspected Robbers Killed In Separate Shootout With EMPD
In a separate incident on Monday, SurgeZirc had earlier reported that, four suspected robbers were killed in a deadly shootout with the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) in Alberton, Gauteng.

According to EMPD spokesperson Thabiso Makgato, the suspects had allegedly robbed the Dog Box Liquor Store on Kritzinger Avenue in Verwoerdpark before fleeing the scene in a silver Renault Triber.
EMPD officers, alerted by community members, quickly pursued the robbers as they made their way toward the N3 north.
During the high-speed chase, the suspects fired at the pursuing officers, prompting a fierce exchange of gunfire.
The shootout ultimately resulted in the deaths of the four suspects, with no officers reported injured.
